Mono Laser Toner Cartridges
Some information if you are about to buy a printer.
If you are looking at buying a mono or otherwise called a black and white laser printer, they are excellent value, especially if you print mostly black. They have come down in price but keep in mind you get what you pay for!! There are some models which have the drum built into the cartridge, they usually have a small yield and there are models which have a toner cartridge and a drum unit. Even though you need to purchase a drum every 4-5 toner cartridges, the toners are often cheaper and have much more of a page yield. It should also be remembered that if you buy a more expensive printer you will usually have larger cartridges, the Brother TN 3290 is 8000 pages for $88.00, these cartridges represent much better value than some of the cheap ones.
Some printer manufacturers have taken to updating the firmware on you printer without your permission to stop you using compatible toner cartridges. There are some law suits happening because it is considered an invasion of privacy, but till it is sorted we advise do not allow automatic updates to your printer. You will find that Lexmark and Samsung are the biggest cuplprits. Our advice at the moment is to stick with Brother or HP machines.

Please note that many HP laser printers will take both the "A" or "X" cartridges. The "X" is a high yield version and in most cases the compatibles are only made in high yield as they represent better value.
